Treasure hunt was great success

Hi Nikki. The treasure hunt was a success. The treasure map was a lot of fun to do and really turned out great - we used the tea idea to age it and used a lighter to burn the edges. I'm going to save it as a keepsake for my kids. I would DEFINITELY do this again - I'm thinking of planning one for adults this summer.

Treasure hunt picnic with 8 yr old solving five to eight puzzle

We did the treasure hunt at our picnic on Sunday and it was a hit. I learned a lot, particularly about being rushed into setting it up. But all in all, everyone had a good time and they were challenged by the clues. One dad was so proud of his 9 year-old son, who figured out the five to eight puzzle while the adults were still working on it. I will definitely be thinking of clues and prizes for the treasure throughout the whole year, just to make it better next time. Thank you.

A lot of work transforming it to my theme on the computer. But so worth it. We had three teams of 3-4 boys ages 11-14. Thanks again

Sleepover treasure hunt

Hi Nikki. Thanks for responding. The kids really enjoyed the treasure hunt and asked me to make up another one for them (which I did using the software, thank you!) It was a sleepover party, so we did one in the evening and one the next morning. They're still talking about it.

Surprise treasure hunters birthday party

Nikki,

I usually plan my kid's birthdays in advance. My daughter is turning 13 this year, and decided 'last minute' to throw her a surprise birthday party. All the girls attending the party will be between 13-15 years old. We are north of Denver, Colorado, USA.

She loves that show 'Treasure Hunters' so we decided a treasure hunt theme is what we would have. I began scouring the internet for treasure hunt information, as I had an idea of what to do. I found your website, bought the online 'book', and printed it (wow lots of pages). I was happy to find something I could get immediately, because of the time constraint.

After my daughter went to bed, my husband and I began reading through it. Wow! What wonderful ideas! We have decided on 7 different locations to hide the 'puzzle pieces' and activities, along with the clues to the next location. All outside, and the puzzle will tell them to go to the (community) pool to find the treasure. That way they can swim when they have found it.

Her party is on Saturday (which is only three days away), and we are so excited. I only have to buy a few things (chocolate gold coins, necklaces, bandanas, etc) for the party. Your book (so far) has been an asset to me.

I'll let you know how the party went.

Great frog adventure treasure hunt

Dear Nikki,

Tomorrow is the big event! I chose the frog theme from the kid's classroom this year and named the party the GREAT FROG ADVENTURE! I formatted all locations, teams and challenges to the theme. We buried the treasure yesterday and all helpers and instructions are set and ready for tomorrow. Having never done this kind of party, I am excited and nervous wanting to know I have accounted for all the details and possible glitches. Say a prayer for me tomorrow and I'll let you know how it went.

We will have 47 kids and 12 adults!

Thanks!

Treasure hunt for children and young adults with brain injuries

We will be holding the treasure hunt July 8th and then 9th for Camp TBI which is a camp for children and young adults with brain injuries.

I am doing a treasure hunt first with the counselors during training so that they can get oriented to the different places at camp. When they find a clue they will be given a little token that they have to bring back to the main office. When they have all of the clues they will be given a card from their main counselor that explains what each of the tokens are, for example, they will get a 'smartie' candy to let them know how smart they are. They will be given an eraser so that they know that everyone makes mistakes and it's okay. Anyway the theme of all the clues will be a 'counselor survivor kit'. The next day, the campers will do something very similar and the counselors will be giving the campers the survivor kits.

It will be held in GA, USA. I will have 70 counselors and 42 campers.

Age range of campers is 8-24

counselors 16-70.

I only glanced at the book and need to start working on it soon. I was excited to figure out how to incorporate it into our camp. Our theme this year for camp is Wild and Wacky sports so I will be changing the stations or ports to different places that have to do with sports, for example, one of the stations will be 'Green Ball Court' meaning that they have to first figure out that they have to go to the tennis courts. So they have two clues to figure out, one is where the station is, and then what the puzzle will be

Colored bandanas for pirate treasure hunt

The pirate treasure hunt was great. The kids had a lot of fun. The only thing I changed is I had the kids put their colored bandannas on first so everyone would know what color they were. I also replaced the gold earrings with tattoos at that station. The winning team really got into digging up the treasure. It was great to see girls really get into the game. Thanks for everything!!

School survivor week scavenger hunt

Hey Nikki.

I'm the Student Council Sponsor at a small school, only 50 kids in 7th through 12th. This year for homecoming, with your help I had Survivor Week. We had 5 tribes, and believe me they loved it. I had a big poster in the hall to tabulate the scores. Everything got extra crazy because the teams were never more than a few points apart.

If you expand on this let me know and also any ideas for next year's Survivor Week would be greatly appreciated, because the kids already said we have to do this again.

Thanks for all the help!!!!!

Life saver last minute Halloween Treasure Hunt

Dear Nikki

I can't tell you what a life saver you are. My Halloween invitations were all sent; advertising a Treasure Hunt and I became ill. I didn't know how I was ever going to pull it off, but 2 days before the party I logged in (log in info in your purchase confirmation email) and within 1 hour I had edited

the clues you provided to fit our surroundings. I then mailed them to my office; printed, cut and separated. Trust me...now that I know how wonderful your made to order ''hunts' are; we will be having them at every party. The kids and adults had a blast.

Please keep me informed of anything new, especially for adult parties.

Thanks again to my new party planning best friend!

Mall scavenger hunt is very popular

Hi,

We actually had our scavenger hunt this past Friday. I combined several of your ideas and planned a mall scavenger hunt for my daughters birthday (she turned 11). We had pictures and items that had to be found (that you couldn't buy) and some that you had to buy. She and all of her friends had a great time!

The assurance of that came when several of her friends told their mothers they wanted them to plan a scavenger hunt for their birthdays.

Your e-book was amazing. I was worried when my daughter asked me to plan a scavenger hunt as I had never done it before and my mother (who used to plan them for my sister and I) passed away.

So, add me to your testimonials because I am a very satisfied customer and will use your planning book for years to come!

Thanks,

Which treasure hunt for annual homecoming event

Nikki,

Your product sounds terrific, but I'm at a loss as to which version to purchase. Our volunteer fire department has an annual Homecoming (fund-raiser) and I'm planning a scavenger hunt. The age range could be 10 to 18. Would the 'kids' option be too young if I split the group or would I be able to modify per your examples?

Sincerely,

Bethany Miller

Arbonne Independent Consultant

-------------

Hi Bethany

If you are referring to our Treasure Hunt Party Game, I suggest the adult / all ages version would work fine for a group of 10 -18 year olds. We do also have a scavenger hunt product.

There are some differences between our major ebook products: Treasure Hunt and Scavenger Hunt. The Treasure Hunt Party Game is based around six locations, at each location, the teams are required to complete a challenge or puzzle in order to win pieces of a clue. The clue pieces when put together will lead them to the treasure map and then onto the treasure. The Scavenger Hunt game is about collecting items or completing tasks on a list. Teams compete to complete the list, or to earn points in a given timeframe. The game style is your choice.

Best wishes

Nikki

Pirate treasure hunt theme 'wins' over Halloween

Hello,

I did receive the party planner as well as the Halloween pack and the pirate pack as I wasn't sure which one I would do. After a vote from all the adult chaperone's, the pirate theme won out. We are planning the party in MI on Oct 28th. It will be a Halloween party for my son and his friends from middle school. The age range will be from about 8 (siblings of his friends) to about 15. We usually get about 25-30 kids each year so they expect us to top last years spectacle. Its gets harder each year as they get older and don't fall for 'kiddie games' anymore.

I have read the books thru and we are keeping few of the games suggested (scavenger hunt, flag creation and walking the plank). We are just adding 'features' to each of those three to slow them down a bit. Then I created 3 other games to replace the ones in the book that I know they wont like or will do so fast that they will be doubling up at the ports. So in an effort to not overwhelm my lovely adult volunteers, I need to keep them at each station for about the same time. The three new games should keep all ports on the same time scale (at least I hope it will).

Thanks for the great ideas, they got me going in the right direction. Overall I hope it goes over well.

Yacht club cruise and treasure hunt

We had our pirate treasure hunt game this week-end on our yacht club cruise. We did all the planning, purchasing the treasure and put it together in 3 days with very late nights, but it was a huge success. Everyone had a great time. We have many more ideas for another hunt next year when we will have more time to plan.

Thank-you for all the great ideas and for all the flexibility to the game, it was easily adaptable to our space, weather and various abilities of our players. Our youngest player was 7 years old and our oldest was in their late 60's and they all enjoyed the challenges, puzzles and best of all finding the map and treasure.

It is going to be a costume Halloween party.

Summer employee treasure hunt party

It went great. It was a summer end employee treasure hunt party and at the end the treasure was a chest full of $1 gold coins. Each employee got part of the treasure. I had to modify the clues to make it work at my resort but it went great. The employees loved it. The only thing I would do different would be to number the clues. A couple of groups found a clue that was not the correct one. If I numbered them, they would know that it wasn't the right clue. However, the team that actually won didn't skip any clues so that part was kinda funny.

Arrrgh Matey - Pirate treasure hunt is GREAT success

Hi Nikki, the Treasure Hunt was a GREAT success, and everyone had a GREAT time at the annual Block Party! ALL the kids (and I mean all....there must have been at least 60 - 70 kids participating) had a great time, and I think the adults at each of the participating homes on the block did also! We did the Pirate theme and everyone seemed to enjoy all of the pirate flags...balloons, and the Pirate we had 'hanging in the galley' of Pirate Beach (he was a bit scary for the real youngsters...but it definitely added to the effect we were trying to achieve.)

We had a huge Treasure Chest 'buried' in our back yard filled with all sorts of toys, candy bags, faux jewelry, coins etc.... and the winning team all seemed to revel in the excitement.

We can't thank you enough for your help. The program really helped us to plan, and make the event as special as you had described. Thanks for all of the pointers along the way, and we look forward to possibly hosting this event at our next Block Party!

All our best and many thanks again for providing such an innovative and helpful tool to make the party a huge success. Agrrrrr Matey!

Treasure hunt party in historical park

Hi Nikki-

I am planning a 'treasure hunt' party. There will be around 10 kids between the ages of 9 and 12. Some parents may stay for the party as well. We are having the party (in one of the outdoor pavilions) at a local state park. I plan to set up several stations (in the pavilion itself) where the kids have to complete a 'challenge' in order to continue (as you suggest in the original plan). The park is a historical civil war site, and has a rather long trail and about a dozen historical markers scattered along the trail. I obviously can't dig a hole at the park, and I am hesitant to place the 'treasure' along the trail for fear that someone else will encounter it and either take it or move it. Ideally, I would love for each of the kids to have a more individualized 'treasure hunt' at the end of completing the activities at the tables in the pavilion. I also thought that maybe the kids could work in pairs, and that would be good.

So here is my idea at the moment...... After breaking up into pairs, the kids would complete each of about a half dozen activities in the pavilion area. They would pick up a piece of the puzzle at the completion of each activity (again, I have no problem with devising 4 or 5 different puzzles - one individualized for each team). So, at the completion of the activities the kids will have either a map or a picture (or both) of their final destination. They would have to locate this destination and answer a question, or some other challenge type thing in order to get the treasure. Once the kids complete the final question or 'challenge' they would return to the pavilion and turn in the answer (or whatever) in order to receive their treasure. The treasure itself will be a little box that includes the party favors, so each child will get a 'treasure'. The part where I have the dilemma is what the actual final destination or challenge would be. I want it to be fun for t he kids, and not like work or a school field trip, for example.

Time hiking the trail with the markers could be an issue as well. I hiked the trail this morning, alone, and at a pretty good pace, and it took me about an hour. I only have about 3 hours for the party in all. Although I don't mind hiking a portion of the trail, and we will probably end up letting the kids do that, I don't want to be rushed, or hiking around in the woods for a large part of the party. I would rather the kids and parents relax and enjoy themselves in a more freeform way.... if that makes sense.

If you have any ideas, that would be great. I love the initial plan. It's perfect. I'm going to modify it a little to meet our particular needs.

Thanks.

Secret agent treasure hunt for 10 year old

Hi Nikki,

Yes we are planning a secret agent party for our ten year old boy, Matthew.

We plan to set up the stations as 'training grounds' with tasks of mental, physical, disguise, agility, teamwork and code breakers. We will be using our yard and house as the playing area. We have a dark little room downstairs where we are planning to set up a 'laser grid' for them to master and then get to one of the activities (which will be set up under a single light :).

We will have about 10 boys all together who are pretty bright and agile so we are trying to come up with some good puzzles, etc... We are having trouble thinking of a teamwork challenge but otherwise, we have supplies for the spy disguises (mustache, dark glasses, spy hats, fake ids, etc..) and we will use the walking on a line activity in conjunction with our physical training (ie, obstacle course, which includes low crawl, jumping rope, push ups, etc...). We are excited about all of it--my husband is helping me think up some ideas too.

I was thinking of wrapping chocolate bars in gold paper to look like gold bricks to put in the 'safe'. All of your ideas were a great jumping-off point to go with our theme. Thanks so much for the boost'
