Great logistics for the treasure hunt

Nikki,

I downloaded your doc to get ideas for an outdoor scavenger hunt for approx 35 Cub Scouts ranging in age from 7-13. We had the hunt this past weekend and it came out fantastic. Your planner was very helpful for getting a concept put together, especially the logistics aspects of the hunt. Thank you!

Haven't told the children yet about the treasure hunt

Nikki,

Thank you for checking on me. I was really reluctant to agree to the treasure hunt, but after getting your manual, I am getting excited.

I have an idea where I am going to bury the treasure and have decided to prepare 6 individual treasure chests and these will be buried in a bigger treasure chest.

I purchased a disposable ice chest and will spray paint it black, brown or gold, not sure yet on the color. I bought the smallest one available because it had a rope attached to it and I wanted to make sure it is not too heavy for the kids to pull it up.

I will fill each treasure chest up stuff for the winners and place them all staked on top of each other in the ice chest. I will then place filled individual goodie bags on top of the treasure chests that the winners get to 'share' their spoils with others. The individual bags will contain coins, gems, etc and a thanks for participating note.

I have read your instructions several times and think I have a good handle on it and feel pretty good about what I need to do to make it successful.

I haven't told my children that I've planned this for their party because if I tell them anything in advance, they will ask day and night millions of questions and will not allow me a moments peace.

Family treasure hunt for Easter eggs

My Adult Easter Egg Treasure Hunt was a HUGE success, thanks in large part to the great clues you wrote! We were a small group of 8 this year with no children, only 1 baby, so I decided to hold a special event for the adults.

What fun! I started with 2 sets of 16 eggs - each one numbered 1-16. One set was hidden; the other was used to hide your clues and placed in a basket. Each person chose an egg and had to find the egg with the matching number using the clue inside. They could then take another egg and try again.

After all 16 eggs were found came the big surprise! Each numbered egg corresponded with a prize. I had some fun gifts and everyone had a ball. I will definitely do it again next year. It's all my family's been talking about.

Thanks again for a fun idea.

Treasure hunt game is exactly what is wanted

Nikki,

I am honestly amazed at your follow-up emails. You're too good to be true. After reading your email, you hit the nail right on the head. What you described is exactly the kind of activity that I've been trying to plan!! I was so excited that I went back and googled the Treasure Hunt Party Game and purchased the booklets.

I think you're fabulous and as a working mother who has little time to plan party events - my heartfelt thanks goes out to you.

It's all easy with a treasure hunt planner in front of you.

Hi Nikki

It all went very well. It seemed easy, and when you have the planner in front of you it is straight forward. However without the planner I really don't think I'd have been able to do it. Thank you

Birthday party treasure hunt

Hi,

We had a birthday party yesterday for nine 8-year old boys and girls. The theme was "Pirates Go Wild" and we took full advantage of the online Instant Treasure Hunt game. We made 6 different clues for each of the 3 teams (used colored armbands to identify the different "crews", labeled them "Blue Bandit Clue #2", etc.) and it went great!

I bought flags, blow-up swords, bandanas, pencils, stickers, "gold" coins, candy, and little clue sets at Diddams (see attached pictures).

The best part happened as each of the teams finished, then went to help the other teams before getting the last clue and shovels with little flags attached. (They had to find the apple tree and figure out that the big flag marked the spot to dig up the treasure box all together.) The kids then divided up the "loot" themselves as their party favors.

I loved the idea of the different puzzles and stations but didn't have other adult helpers and would definitely have needed them to make that work.

Easter Sunday treasure hunt in Tampa for all ages

I live in Tampa, FL. So far I am trying to get everything together for Easter Sunday. Right now the last thing I have to do is the treasure map. I will be going out of town on Friday and won't return till Sunday, so today is my last day to finish. I am doing it for my family, I am the oldest daughter, 23, and every year I do an Easter egg hunt with clues they need to find the next egg. They all love it, from my grandmother, 78, to my youngest sister, 16. I think the one who enjoys it the most is my 30 year old brother. This year I wanted to do something a little different and your treasure hunt is going to turn out great. I know they will all have a great time.

I like your customer service involvement. It really shows you care about your customers.

Thanks

Fishing Tournament and treasure hunt

Michigan USA on memorial day weekend.

35 family members get together at our cottage for a fishing tournament and other games, softball, cards, cocktails, boating, tubing, etc.

Age range is 6-70 with about 10 under 13 years of age.

The theme title is the 5th annual Gregor family & friends fishing tournament.

Since the main event of the weekend is the fishing tournament the following day, many of the items in the treasure chest will be fishing related (fishing lures, and other tackle box items and kids fishing games and craft projects.)

Scavenger hunt ideas are creative

Hi Nikki -

Thank you so much, I used the scavenger hunt this past weekend to entertain my niece and nephew at the shore.

I loved your ideas, and will be using your book as a reference for special activity days for my daughter and friends. When my daughter is a little older (she's only 4 now), I will probably host a Scavenger Hunt birthday party for her.

If I need any help in the future, I will contact you.

Thank you again for all your support. I felt your ideas were very creative.

Sincerely,

Digging up treasure was so exciting

Dear Nikki,

The hunt was a GREAT success! It took the kids over an hour to get through it, and they all had a really good time. Digging up the treasure was so exciting!

Thanks for all your input, it was priceless, even if I never did a treasure hunt again your book was worth the money spent! (but OF COURSE we'll be using it again and again, now we'll be professionals before you know it!)

I'll keep you posted on our next one...

Treasure hunt for annual block party - so fabulous the neighbors will HATE us!

Hi Nikki,

Yes, I have finally had the time to download the Treasure Hunt Game with the Pirate Theme (Thank GOD that 'Pirates of the Caribbean - Dead Man's Chest' has hit the movies this Summer!). All the amenities we need to support the theme is in all of the party stores everywhere in NY.

The Hunt if for an upcoming Annual Block Party that takes place in my town of West Babylon, NY, USA. We believe that the Hunt will be organized for approximately 45 - 50 youngsters (~ 5 - 6 children per Team @ 8 - 9 stations/houses).

We have even recruited the help of all the participating neighbors to act as Station Overseers to oversee and judge the puzzles and challenges! We figure why not get the whole lot of them involved right??......It's a PARTY and we're all there to have fun!

It is a rather large party, and we have ordered the Child version for ages 6 - 16. We have incorporated most of the puzzles and challenges that you have suggested in the 'Pirate Theme package', only because we no imagination! (That's not really true....but there are so many other details to attend to, as our house alone is expecting ~ 100 persons throughout the day, and there are about 8 or 9 families participating on our block!).

We are very excited about how the Treasure Hunt will come out, but the Block Party Organizer seems to think it will be the 'hit of the party'! Our neighbor's are going to HATE us! We don't have any children, and seem to come up with all the great ideas at this annual event.......with YOUR HELP this time of course! Thank you!

I will write back once we have played (8/12 or 13th) to provide you with some feedback on the outcome, or.....should I hit a mental block and need some suggestions I will contact you earlier! (ha-ha-ha)!

Thanks again for making this as simple as possible, and we look forward to a great event.

Most Sincerely,

Mike Boruch, New York USA

Hi Nikki,

We live in the USA, in Moore, OK. The party is this Saturday the 23rd.

It is a surprise birthday party for my son who turned 13 last Sunday.

There will be mostly 13 to 14 year olds but a few younger and some older siblings at the party, and of course aunts and uncles to help drive for the scavenger hunt.

I have read over the planner and am trying to decide which one I want to do. I really like the one they have to find something for each letter of the alphabet.

Thank you,

Still talking about treasure hunt after school holidays

Hi Nikki,

We had a great party. The games we played at the party was like Amazing Race. They had to play a game to get a clue. (They collect all seven clues and put it together to find the treasure). I made passport for everyone. We traveled around the world to all seven continents. They had different ways to travel around the world. (bike, Wheel bower, skates, etc.) When they collected all the clues they had to find the treasure box that was buried.

We had two teams. I know the kids loved it we had it before our spring break, and yesterday was the first day back and they were still talking about it.

Thanks for the help and ideas.

Family activity treasure hunt

Hi Nikki:

Thanks for your help. I am responsible for a treasure hunt as a family activity for a country club. One Friday every month we have family fun night. I would like to include ages of all. We will have to have the hunt inside. I was thinking about making written clues with keys at the location. They take a key and at the last clue is the treasure box with a lock on it and they try their keys. Only one key will work. Or I could have multiple treasure boxes so more than one family win.

Thanks again

Geo caching and scavenger hunting

Thanks for asking, our hunt was a little non traditional, but went well. It was a mixture of geo caching, orienteering, and scavenger.

We hid zip l6 locks that contained 13 items, scattered over our 15 acres. Nothing was buried or covered over. All the zip locks were identical. We had a map with X marks the spots where bags were hidden, and the list of the 13 items you needed to find and cross off.

There were 12 kids, all second graders. Each kid had to end up with the 13 different items in his bag, and he had 16 bags to make his cache. i.e.: You could only take one item from each zip lock you found. If you needed the whistle to cross off your list, and you went to three bags and no whistles, you needed to keep searching for a zip lock that contained one. That's where the strategy came in. We were afraid just finding them would be too easy. We also thought that having all whistles in one bag; all pencils, etc, would also be too easy. This kept the kids busy for 1 1/2 hours. Each kid had an adult tagging along, so I didn't need search and rescue! The kids loved it and I even had one little girl say, she LOVED having to find her goodie bag!

I had award gold medals to place around the necks as each kid finished. They then took a hayride to our campfire area where we ate, had cake, and opened presents. As we live in the Rockies in Colorado, the weather held out beautifully. It could have been a snow scavenger hunt and plan B.

Thanks for all the ideas,

Karen Lasher, Colorado, USA

Kids were so into treasure hunt tasks

Hi Nikki,

Yes, we did have the treasure hunt and it was a lot of fun. It was for my daughter's 9th birthday and she had 12 guests. We had wished to play it outside but the weather did not cooperate so we stayed inside my house and garage area. It worked out fine to be inside.

The kids were so into the tasks. It was really fun for me to think up creative and fun things for them to do at each city. At one city they had to pick a teammate to be wrapped up in a whole roll of toilet paper. We had an obstacle course and I even through in some math problems to figure out.

For the treasure box I was able to find a bulk bag of gold/chocolate coins to mix in with other loot. It was great and I will definitely be using the plan again in the future.

Thanks for your help.

You can't have a pirate party without a Treasure Hunt!

Hi Nikki,

We celebrated our son's eleventh birthday with a pirate themed party. Well, you can't have a pirate party without a treasure hunt and we procrastinated a little too long. Your website helped us out tremendously.

We put together a 26 riddle treasure hunt that kept the children engaged and they had a great time searching for the treasure. And your step by step process made it very simple.

Thanks,

Yacht club treasure hunt

Nikki,

I own the Island Packet Sailboat dealership for the state of Florida. Every year all the owners of Island Packets gather for a Rendezvous that lasts Friday-Sunday. We have a race on Saturday but not everyone wants to participate, so we usually try to have other activities. I came across your game and thought it might be fun, especially with a Pirate theme since we?re sail boaters.

I see there could be actual digging involved! Our event will be held at a Yacht Club so I have to be careful that I don?t break any of their rules :)

A very satisfied customer with the Instant Treasure Hunt

Just wanted to let you know that my treasure hunts were great!. I made 2 because we never know about the weather, so we had one for inside & one for out. This was by far the best one I've ever had, thanks to you & your treasure hunt partygames. This is the first time I've been able to stump my son-in-law & the other adults so I got some personal satisfaction out of it too. The kids loved their hunt and made up another one for themselves afterward. I think we had people looking for clues all day long. Thank you again. I have plenty of ideas for next year too, so I am thrilled with your program. I just can't say thanks you enough ways. The kids enjoy the hunt so much that we may work it into other family events. Scavenger hunt planning book is a wonderful resource

Hi Nikki,

What at wonderful resource your scavenger hunt e-book is. The hunt is tonight and I have already spent about three hours prepping with at least 3 more to do. It's raining here so we are keeping game inside the house, on the porch and in the screen in porch too.

The boundaries, rules and age appropriate list were extremely helpful. Our group is ages 8-9 girls. There are 9 girls coming all of whom will be randomly divided into three groups of three. Unfortunately one of the babysitters cancelled last night so I'm now wrestling with three teams and two supervisors.....

Got to go, but I will f/u with news and feedback.. You are amazing to have the care and concern to email me.

I dearly appreciate it.
