Treasure Hunt once for the kids and once for the family

The Instant Treasure Hunt was very easy to use and the kids loved it! I did it twice once for the kid's party and once for the family party. The first time the group was a bit big, next time I will do two teams so they all have a chance to figure out the clues.

Birthday party treasure hunt

Hi,

We had a birthday party yesterday for nine 8-year old boys and girls. The theme was "Pirates Go Wild" and we took full advantage of the online Instant Treasure Hunt game. We made 6 different clues for each of the 3 teams (used colored armbands to identify the different "crews", labeled them "Blue Bandit Clue #2", etc.) and it went great!

I bought flags, blow-up swords, bandanas, pencils, stickers, "gold" coins, candy, and little clue sets at Diddams (see attached pictures).

The best part happened as each of the teams finished, then went to help the other teams before getting the last clue and shovels with little flags attached. (They had to find the apple tree and figure out that the big flag marked the spot to dig up the treasure box all together.) The kids then divided up the "loot" themselves as their party favors.

I loved the idea of the different puzzles and stations but didn't have other adult helpers and would definitely have needed them to make that work.

Surprise 16th treasure hunt party starts with a kidnap!

I am planning a surprise 16th birthday party with a pirate theme for my daughter. The pirate treasure hunt will take place in a park in Yucaipa, CA. The party is for girls around my daughter's age. I have planned a treasure hunt around the park, enlisted some helpers and plan to 'bury' the treasure in a painted styrofoam chest filled with gifts from the .99 cent store under some bushes. We will begin by kidnapping my daughter from a local ice cream shop and proceed to the park for the treasure hunt. I think it will be great fun and I hope the girls will dress up in pirate garb. If not, I have some props for them. I'll let you know how it went after Friday.

No squabbles at the treasure hunt game!

Dear Nikki,

The treasure hunt was a great success. The children enjoyed themselves from beginning to end and for the first time nobody squabbled! The layout is very clear and nobody had any trouble following it. I bought a little treasure chest for next to nothing and filled it with chocolate pennies. At the end several of the kids said that my parties were always the best so please take all the credit! Do you have any other party suggestions? Many thanks for a great day

Our treasure hunt was a success! Thank you! The kids had a great time. It got a little crazy once the red team told the helper they had all 6 pieces of the clue because another team was very

close. They all ran to the area where the treasure was buried and there was some heated debating about who actually won the right to dig! It was a very competitive frenzy at one point, but we got

through it! The red team dug up the treasure only to find that it was a 'fake' treasure full of fake money and candy! The map was in the treasure box and on the other side of their clue pieces was the code to decipher the map to find the real treasure...which was a pinata hidden in the house. Of course, all the kids received the candy from the pinata!

If I were to do anything differently, I would have made sure every kid was very clear about the rules of the game and I would have bought better toliet paper for the mummy game! The cheap rolls broke really easily and wouldn't stay on the kids! Thank you so much for your ideas! I thought it was a great fun and different thing to do with the kids.

School scavenger hunt

Hi Nikki!

Yes, my scavenger hunt is planned. I live in Kamloops, BC and am a principal at an Elementary School called Stuart Wood. Our school is 101 years old and is a beautiful red brick (three stories)

schoolhouse. The attic has been recreated to be a one room schoolhouse from around 1930. I have 12 Leadership students who help with school events throughout the year. As a special celebration for

all they have done, we are having the first, extraordinary sleepover in the building this Friday night. The scavenger hunt is actually questions that they will answer by exploring the building. While they

find the answers to the 20 questions, there are also puzzle pieces hidden that they will collect and put together to find clues as to where the famous, hidden "Stuart Wood" treasure is. I think they will

have a blast!

The kids LOVED the treasure hunt

I read through the Treasure Hunt Party Game thoroughly and made the necessary copies, bought any needed materials, and the party soon got underway.

I made up a great map using your ideas and buried a treasure in the yard. The kids LOVED the hunt and we made the treasure map quite detailed and fun for them.

Thanks for your help

Treasure hunt will be used again

Nikki,

We had our Treasure Hunt tonight and it was a great success! The occasion was our daughter's 16th birthday party and we wanted to do something different that would also be challenging. There were 3 groups and they all really got into the game. The treasure was a treasure box pinata and because Sara will soon be getting her permit we tried to include a car theme. The treasure map led the winning team to the keys to the car that would unlock the trunk. The prize was found and all the partygoers enjoyed batting at the pinata!

Thanks for guiding us through the process with your great instructions and planning help. We'll certainly use this game again!

Summer employee party with treasure hunt clues

It went great. It was a summer end employee party and at the end the treasure was a chest full of $1 gold coins. Each employee got part of the treasure. I had to modify the clues to make it work at my resort but it went great. The employees loved it. The only thing I would do different would be to number the clues. A couple of groups found a clue that was not the correct one. If I numbered them, they would know that it wasn't the right clue. However, the team that actually won the treasure hunt didn't skip any clues so that part was kinda funny

Christmas family party treasure hunt

Hi Nikki,

We downloaded Treasure Hunt last night and are very excited to get started.

Our party is going to be Dec. 22. It is a family party. We live at the beach and our grown daughters our bring their families.

Each family will be a team. Team 1 has two kids-5 & 8, Team 2 has three kids-3,5 & 8 and team 3's kids are 11 & 16. The parents will be the team leaders.

We are trying to come up with age appropriate clues for each. Our other challenge is one team has someone on crutches. ( this team will be hunting their clues at the park. Lots of places to sit!)

My idea is to send each team to a different location to hunt for their clues. ( the park, my sister's big yard, the big field behind our house). All locations are within blocks of each other. Each team collects 6 clues, then they all meet back at our house to put the clues together to solve the puzzle. This will lead them to the treasure. They all dig the treasure up together and share it.

Thank you so much,

Carol Gates, USA

Nikki,

Thanks to you for such a prompt response. I appreciate you taking care of these issues and I look forward to making many more treasure hunts with you. I do apologize for being so particular but as I make most (all) of my hunts for adults, they love to scrutinize my work. I am notorious for spending months on the perfected treasure hunt...

Your treasure hunt generator/program is really terrific. It makes the head work very simple and organized. With a little one around the house (18 months) it is hard for me to find the time to devote to my treasure hunting hobby as before. Thanks again for this time saving tool.

With much appreciation,

Treasure hunt birthday surprise

Hi Nikki - this is really great....I was trying to come up with something for my husband's birthday this weekend, so thank you very much for a terrific idea. I can't wait for the results! He will be 39, and has never really liked birthdays or asked for any gifts in particular, so we are just going to have a cookout with some family (or so he thinks)....

Pirate treasure hunt party with team flags

Hi Nikki,

The pirate treasure hunt party is long over. It was a great success. I did make some changes which I thought I would pass along to you. I had all of the girls together, divided them up into their teams and as a big group they dressed up as pirates and continued as a big group to the flag making station. So they were outfitted and had their team flags before starting the hunt. My treasure chest was a pi?ata which, after they put the puzzle together they broke open. It was a lot of fun and my neighbor asked where I got my ideas from. Thanks

Planning for a big treasure hunt

Our treasure hunt is scheduled for December 15th and is going to be a big one. This is for my son's 9th birthday party and is the 4th year that we have done a treasure hunt. The kids in our church, family, and neighborhood look forward to it every year so I am excited about this year's to see how it compares to the past years. I am an early planner because there are so many kids participating and I will be finalizing the details for the hunt this week. You may be hearing from me needing some advice. I will be sure to let you know the turn out.

Teen treasure hunt party was a blast.

Nikki-

I wound up dividing the two groups and the party was an absolute blast!!!! I really appreciate you emailing me back. You have WONDERFUL follow up! It is good to know that in the future having a one group hunt is always an option.

I gathered many tips from your book and added, changed, revised, etc. It was an incredible layout for brainstorming. I can't thank you enough. I was unsure of my age group (15-16 yrs). They are at a really delicate age... but one of the boys from the party told my daughter that now all future parties are to be at our house!!!

Thanks again and God Bless!

Treasure hunt set up with little effort

We had a great time with the treasure hunt. Our big birthday party involves my two daughters, now 2 & 6, and their dad. All birthdays within 10 days. We had about a dozen kids into the treasure hunt. The booty in the treasure chest was used for goody bags for the young guests. The kids had a great time and were ready for cake afterwards. Between the bounce house, riding a real horse (we have a friend who brought one), and the treasure hunt the kids were totally worn out. Then it became Dad's party, and the adults had a great time also. We did a treasure hunt for dad, and he was completely confused (we meant to do that) and had a great time.

It was wonderful that I was able to set this up with very little effort. By setting it up so that it doesn't matter if something goes wrong, everyone wins - everyone enjoyed it. I received lots of compliments on how great the party was. I look forward to using this on other occasions, as well as when the kids are just bored. Thanks for your efforts - which saved me from making them.

School fundraising treasure hunt

Thanks so much Nikki. Having your email and your quick responses have given me a lot of confidence in the product. I have downloaded but have not yet read through the book. The party isn't scheduled until May 25 - but it will be sponsored by our parent's guild (a group of parents that do fundraising for a grammer school) and since we need to have our school year calendar of events completed for printing prior to school starting, it was really vital that I was able to determine if a treasure hunt would work. The venue will be our annual family picnic in a large community park and this will be the 1st year we will introduce a planned, structured game at this event - I am hopeful that it will become part of the school tradition. I will keep you posted!

Thanks again for all your help.

Take care,

Awesome treasure hunt in Las Vegas

just wanted to let you know that we had our treasure hunt. it was AWESOME! i did it for my son's 22nd birthday. we live in las vegas so i planned it to go up the Strip from the MGM Grand and end at, of course, Treasure Island with 14 clues in between. There were 6 people so we just kept it as one group. It took a lot of planning, but it pretty much went off without a hitch. The "treasure" at the end was in a suite at the Treasure Island. I had found a big unfinished treasure chest at a craft store, stained it, and, in the room, filled it with cheap gold and silver bead necklaces i bought at a party store. I then put in the chest 6 glass beer mugs that i had engraved with "Josh's Treasure Hunt '08".

So much fun! Now, my daughter wants to do a scavenger hunt on the Strip. So, I'm now looking for ideas for that!

Thanks for your help!

Hi Nikki the kids had a blast at this pirate party! I needed plenty of adult helpers as it was for my sons 6 yr old bday party but all the work paid off.
