Guess what? I got the treasure hunt to work after all :) I was just trying to open it the wrong way. Once I 'saved' it first and then opened it, everything was fine. I am sorry to have bothered you. My children had a WONDERFUL time on their hunt! I will use this fun activity time and time again :)
